I live in Saranac, NY, near the small town city of Plattsburgh on Lake Champlain.  My interest is showing the rural life of Saranac; the street life of Plattsburgh; and the boating and water life of Lake Champlain.  This area is in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains and is resplendent with forests, lakes, ponds, rivers and streams.  We have dense maple and pine forests (and other trees).  The area is well populated with deer, bear, wild turkeys, geese, ducks, racoons and other varmints.  The Bald Eagle has made a comeback and is commonly seen along the shores of Lake Champlain.  The lake is a major fishery for bass, lake trout, perch and other species and is the host of several annual bass fishing contests.  I  love to shoot flowers because they're so pretty and hold still for my camera.  On the other hand, I also like to photograph birds but they can be elusive and fast.  I also like people and rusty old cars.

These galleries represent over 50 years of my photography.  I started with 35mm rangefinder cameras, upgraded to single lens reflex cameras.  I started shooting digital images around 2001.  Today I shoot both film and digital.  I have a collection of Minolta, Nikon, Olympus and Kodak film cameras, and Nikon and Canon digital cameras.  In my galleries, there are examples of both film and digital images.  Try to find them.  Preferences for film or digital or both is a long endless discussion that I won't get into here.

I like to make pictures.  Most of these here are good, some are excellent, and a few I feel are priceless.  Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy my photography.    - Don Craig
